What is .NET?

Microsoft® .NET is a set of Microsoft software technologies for connecting information, people, systems, and devices. It enables a high level of software integration through the use of Web services—small, discrete, building-block applications that connect to each other as well as to other, larger applications over the Internet.

The Components of Microsoft .NET-Connected Software

.NET is infused into the products that make up the Microsoft platform, providing the ability to quickly and reliably build, host, deploy, and utilize connected solutions using Web services, all with the protection of industry-standard security technologies.

Smart Clients

"Smart" client application software and operating systems enable PCs and other smart computing devices to act on Web services, allowing anywhere, anytime access to information.

XML Web Services

Microsoft and others are developing a core set of Web services—from authentication to calendaring—that can be combined with other XML Web services or used directly with smart client applications. Microsoft MapPoint® .NET , a Web Service that allows you to integrate high-quality maps, driving directions, and other location intelligence into your applications, business processes, and Web sites is an example of one of these services.

Servers

Microsoft provides the best server infrastructure—the Microsoft Windows Server System™—for deploying, managing, and orchestrating Web services.

Developers tools used.

Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework are a complete solution for developers to build, deploy, and run Web services.

Access Interactive .NET consultants

Our .NET consultants are senior level MCSD.NET technologist with expert knowledge of:

  • C#
  • VB.NET
  • ADO.NET
  • ASP.NET
  • ISAPI DLLs
  • C++, Visual Basic 6.0
  • COM / DCOM / ActiveX
  • NET Framework
  • XML Web Services
  • Class Library Development
  • User & Custom Control
  • Installation & Internationalization
  • SQL Server
  • Windows Services
  • .NET Development

Our .NET consultants have over eight years of software design & development experience and are fluent in both .NET technology and traditional Windows development. Why we offer .NET instead of other XML solutions. Microsoft .NET technology delivers the following unique benefits to developers:

  • It's easier, faster, and less expensive to build and integrate XML Web services through .NET tools (.NET Framework and Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET).
  • The user experience is richer and more compelling because of smart devices and information agents.
  • The .NET experience is personal and manageable because of identity-centric building block services, such as .NET My Services.
  • It's built from the ground-up for the next generation of software with XML at the core.

Benefits - .NET development

Lower development costs

It is all about bottom line and lowering any costs that affect it. Microsoft .NET will make this a reality with:

  • Higher developer productivity. Independent Software Vendors can use familiar, rapid development tools as well as use the best programming language for the task at hand.
  • Some of the best tools available (VisualStudio.NET and the .NET Framework). Both are built from the ground up to build XML Web services.
  • Less code to write, allowing ISV’s to focus on value add. Solutions can be rapidly built by stitching together existing XML Web services.
  • Visual Studio .NET largely automates the creation of an XML Web service from an application.
  • Choice of languages expands developer pool. The .NET Framework enables ISV’s to use almost any modern programming language to create XML Web services freeing organizations to hire based on business needs, not specific language requirements.
  • Customer choice of language for extensibility/customization. XML Web services written in completely different programming languages can easily work together to create solutions. This allows solution providers a wider range of tools and options in working with customers and existing applications.
  • The ability to leverage existing investments. There is no need to rip and replace systems. XML Web services provides new value for legacy systems by acting as a bridge.

Lower deployment costs

  • Reduce server load. The modular nature of XML Web services will distribute processing power to the edge of the network as well as spreading it across multiple sources.
  • Lower consulting requirements. With simpler integration comes the need for fewer consultants.
  • Ride high volume, low cost hardware economics. The highly scalable nature of XML Web services frees organizations from expensive, high volume servers allowing them to deploy over numerous less expensive servers.
